Custom note cards using vintage hand set type (and on not keeping our new year's resolutions, already...)

Hello, Happy 2014! So I guess my New Year's resolution of blogging more was blown before I even started since it's the 24th, and I'm just now getting to my first post of the new year... Whoops! Things are busy and already gearing up for all the Spring weddings. One thing that has kept us extra busy is our tiny Etsy store- Have you seen the custom note cards we offer there? They are lots of fun and make cute gifts. We make them by hand setting our collection of wood and metal type- the original and somewhat laborious way. Some of the type is chipped or warn, but we like that uniqueness and think it gives a quirky feel. We pair them with a recycled brown "paper bag" envelope and they fly out of the shop! Right now they are only available printed on our house paper (Crane's Lettra 110# Pearl White), and in our favorite 5.5" x 4.25" size, but we might expand this option in the future, what do you think? Custom quantities are available, but some names or words may not fit or be right for this type of printing, this isn't a font so not a lot of type sizes are available, feel free to contact us directly if you have a question or want a custom quote! Lots more exciting things to share in the new year, working on a new website, overhaul on our branding- and hopefully a physical move to our forever home (fingers crossed it's soon).

Scroll down to see some photos of what the metal and wood type look like.

You can see some of the individual make-ready we have to do to make each letter level with one another - vintage type is rarely all the same "type high" size.

Equestrian themed Bat Mitzvah invitation suite

This sweet pink sparky Bat Mitzvah suite was inspired by our client Lila's  love of horses. We started by designing  a custom monogram logo that was used throughout the invitation suite (including custom envelope liners!) and in the party elements as well.  All elements were letterpress by us and assembled using a sparkly brown backing card in a pre-made folio. We also created a custom sticker so the final set had the feeling of a horse show ribbon when sealed on top of the champagne satin ribbon that held the folio set closed. Cute but still classic, the last photo shows how sparkly the paper is in real life! Please let us know if we can design or print your next custom letterpress project.

Have your initials custom letterpress printed onto coasters!

I am pretty excited about this new shop offering, I was going to wait until this morning, but couldn't resist tweeting about it yesterday- but here is the official announcement! I ordered some custom 3.5" round coasters in a thinner 40pt. weight to use for another project (usually we use the larger standard 4" size, 60pt. thickness like standard bar coasters)- and since I had more than a few left over I started playing around with other ideas we could use them for - and how cute is this?!? Our Antique wood type fits perfectly on this size and I love the lighter more sophisticated weight and somewhat rustic / fun look of these. So so many reasons to order these cute coasters! Perfect for wedding receptions, cocktail parties,  birthday parties, house warming gift, an anniversary party... the list could just go on and on, right? We have a ton of this particular wood type, so as long as it's just 3 letters, we can print it for you! You can find the listing in our etsy shop here. Currently our listing is for quantities of 100, but we can do more or less- just let me know and I can get you a custom quote and listing.

Custom designed bunny note cards with sweet carrot liners

Another cute custom personalized stationery set to share with you, we hand drew the carrots for the liners, as well as the bunny based off of Peter the Rabbit for some sweet note cards. The same font was used for the return address - I edited it a tiny bit for privacy, but wanted to show how cute this font is for kid's stationery.
