So excited to be able to post about this! I've been entering designs at Minted now and again- mostly for fun- but this one I was really excited about. Last year in October I went to Mexico with the husband for a little trip to a cute place outside of Cabo. And while walking around I found this little store that featured hand embroidered textiles of a local folk art called Otomi. They were sooooo beautiful (and I'm still kicking myself for not buying a ton of them!!) Anyways I took some photos and when I came back home I spent some time drawing images that were similar to what I had seen in those beautiful tapestries. The way I designed them I knew they weren't perfect for letterpress printing- so I decided to enter them into the Minted wedding design contest. Fast forward a few months and the best email arrived- I'd won! So now my lovely Otomi design is available in FIVE different color ways + a ton of options like different backing patterns. Plus all designs are available in the rsvp, direction, reception, envelope liners, thank you cards, and wrap around return address labels designs. So fun right? I'm really excited, and there is more to come! I've also won not ONE but TWO art competitions (!!) and soon small to large prints of some of my original paintings will be available.
It's like it's my birthday. or a late Christmas.
Either way I couldn't be more excited.
So I've entered some art into Minted's "State of the Art" contest. The winner gets a lump sum, then the art is available for sale on their site in a huge variety of sizes, plus the winner gets percentage of each sale...how fun is that? The first entry is a watercolor / gouache paint on a small wood panel... you can vote for Diamond here
and the second is a study for a larger painting I've been working on, I took a photo of a ruby throated hummingbird, reduced it to geometric forms in the computer design program Illustrator, then picked colors that corresponded to the natural coloring in the photo. You can vote for Geometric Hummingbird here
I've come up with a few ideas for the latest Minted contest for their "Don't Forget! Minted's Save the Date Challenge" If you have the chance to jump over and maybe give us a like or feedback on our current designs, I'd appreciate it! xo PS on a personal note I lived for a few years on Balboa Island, and the photo of the kids in the "she said yes" design are on the ferry from Balboa Island to the Newport Peninsula (unless I'm mistaken- but it looks like it!) So many good memories there, and still fun to visit when I go home!
Hello! So the story is that I had a little extra time on my hands the past week (actually I should have been painting our stair railings- but when faced with the decision between painting 4 floors of spindles and handrails OR working on some fun designs for a contest- well designing won!) Below are the designs I submitted for the Minted New Year Card contest. If you like them would you "vote" for us? You can reach our designs by clicking on our Minted voting badge over there on the right.
Thank you thank you thank you! I think it would be so fun to have some of our designs out in the world through Minted. Keep your fingers crossed!
(also on an unrelated note- I'm thinking about doing a promo for our etsy shop in September. What is more appealing... 15% off or free shipping?)
